What is your reason for becoming a teacher?

My passion for foreign languages dates back to high school. I remember the joy I had trying various methods to learn German, Latin, Russian, Spanish and other languages. With the pace of time it became only natural to wish to pass this joy to others. First I had the experience of teaching German to Bulgarians. Then I received the chance to teach Bulgarian as foreign language. Which turned out to be just as fulfilling and sometimes even more exciting.

Which countries have you had students from?

Till now I have had students from Israel, France and Ukraine. Every one of them presents an opportunity for unique cultural encounter and interchange.

What are the biggest challenges for your students?

The challenges could be as diverse as the students themselves. For one it would be the abundance of the Bulgarian verb forms, for another – the usage of the article or the word order. But as challenging as these aspects of the language can sometimes be, it’s so much more rewarding to see your students master them.

What would you tell somebody who wants to learn Bulgarian?

Don’t hesitate to give it a try and you won’t regret it,  you will soon be able to experience Bulgaria and Bulgarian culture better and in depth.
